Event Description and Key Objectives
“Growing the Future Together” was a unique interbank and interdepartmental teambuilding event for Signet Bank and Magnetiq Bank employees. Its purpose was to strengthen cooperation between two related financial institutions, inspire shared values, and contribute to environmental sustainability. The event took place in a remote forest near Riga, where 150 employees worked side by side to plant 8000 new pine trees, leaving a lasting ecological footprint. The key objectives were to encourage cross-institutional networking, build trust and unity between teams, and reinforce both banks’ commitment to environmental and social responsibility. Participants spent the day outdoors, connecting with nature and each other, embodying the values of growth, resilience, and collaboration.
Key challenges
The main challenge was organizing a interbank event in a remote forest with no electricity or infrastructure. Providing comfort, safety, food, and logistics for 150 participants in such conditions required creative problem-solving. Another challenge was maintaining efficiency and ecological responsibility while planting thousands of trees. We worked with forestry experts to prepare the terrain and seedlings in advance. A unique solution was securing a Ukrainian army field kitchen, allowing freshly cooked borscht to be served on-site, providing not only warm food, but also a symbol of solidarity.

Creativity
Instead of conventional corporate teambuilding, the event combined environmental action with genuine human connection. Employees from both banks were united by a shared, meaningful goal – they literally “grew the future together” by planting thousands of pine trees, a living metaphor for both professional and personal growth. This created a powerful narrative: growth is not only financial, but also social and environmental. The Ukrainian army field kitchen added a unique emotional and cultural dimension, turning lunch into a shared experience of empathy and solidarity. The forest setting, collaborative teamwork, and symbolic act of “growing the future” made the event authentic, impactful, and memorable.
Innovation
The innovative aspect lay in integrating sustainability into a corporate teambuilding format and coordinating two financial institutions in a joint purpose-driven event. Logistically, organizing a zero-electricity, off-grid event required inventive solutions – from mobile logistics hubs to manual coordination systems. The Ukrainian army field kitchen not only solved a catering challenge, but also delivered a symbolic message of resilience. Somehow it coincidentally happened that event was held on International Borsch Day.
Teams were strategically mixed across both banks, encouraging networking and creating new professional relationships outside formal business settings.
Execution
Execution required seamless cooperation between Meduza Events, forestry specialists, and both banks. Pre-event preparations included arranging 8000 seedlings, tools, and safety equipment on-site. Teams, mixed between banks and departments, were guided by professional instructors to ensure correct planting techniques. Transport, food service, and safety protocols were adapted to forest conditions. Meduza Events maintained constant communication with the client, providing regular updates and adapting to weather and terrain conditions. Despite the challenging logistics, the schedule was executed precisely, and the atmosphere remained positive, inspiring and highly motivating.
Measurable results
The event achieved outstanding results. Environmentally, 8000 new pine trees were planted, contributing significantly to reforestation efforts in Latvia. Socially, internal post-event surveys showed a 92% increase in employees’ positive perception of interbank and interdepartmental cooperation and 87% stated that they felt more connected to the company’s values after the event. Voluntary participation exceeded expectations by 30%, demonstrating strong employee engagement, and several employees proposed continuing such sustainability-driven initiatives annually. The symbolic act of planting together strengthened team spirit and laid foundations for future joint initiatives.
Communication
The event was integrated into the banks’ internal communication strategies. Internally, it was promoted as an opportunity to “grow the future together”, both professionally and literally, emphasizing teamwork and environmental responsibility. Externally, the story was shared through social media posts, positioning both banks as socially conscious organizations. Employees shared personal stories and photos from the event, creating authentic, organic communication. The Ukrainian field kitchen story gained special attention, strengthening the banks’ image as supportive and compassionate institutions.
Sustainable practices
Sustainability was at the heart of the event. The core activity – planting 8000 new pine trees – directly contributed to carbon offsetting and biodiversity. Reusable or recyclable materials were used wherever possible, and no single-use plastics were allowed. Local suppliers and shared transport reduced emissions. The Ukrainian army field kitchen provided an energy-efficient, locally sourced meal solution, further reducing environmental impact. Participants received digital rather than printed materials. Beyond the environmental aspect, the event promoted social sustainability by encouraging interbank solidarity, teamwork, and purpose-driven corporate culture.
