Planet Budapest

Planet Budapest 2026, the winner of the B2C event category, was a CSR and non-profit event organised by Unger&Partners for the Blue Planet Foundation. Held in Budapest, the 33-day immersive edutainment experience aimed to make sustainability more accessible and engaging for the public, particularly younger generations.

The event transformed the historic Hungarian Railway Museum into a 12,400 m² sustainability theme park. Its centrepiece was Europe’s largest portable dome structure, measuring 72 metres in diameter and 36 metres in height. Visitors could explore three connected formats: Planet Explorers, featuring thematic islands and interactive installations; Planet Ride, an immersive journey through 17 scenes; and Planet Heroes, an educational theatre production performed by a cast of 52 actors.

Each format had its own storyline and visual identity while contributing to one coherent visitor journey. More than 40 creative professionals developed original films, music, installations and visual content, combining traditional artistic techniques such as puppetry with AI, 3D and immersive technologies. This created a distinctive experience that presented sustainability as an opportunity for progress and a better quality of life, rather than focusing only on fear or environmental crisis.

The project was also designed as a modular system that could be adapted to different locations, audiences and topics. Its production involved nearly 1,000 specialists and 250 subcontractors, with 245 screens, 120 m² of LED surfaces and almost 20 kilometres of cabling integrated into the experience. By combining education, entertainment and social learning, Planet Budapest turned a complex global issue into an accessible public experience with the potential to influence attitudes and everyday behaviour.
