Out of the Blue

Out of the Blue, organised by AIM Group International for the LICE Foundation and the Italian League Against Epilepsy (LICE), won the Best in Community Building award for its groundbreaking short-film initiative launched on International Epilepsy Day 2023.


The campaign gave patients a platform to share their stories, dispel myths, and engage both the public and young audiences, creating a strong, empathetic community around epilepsy awareness.

The project transformed health communication by using a high-quality short film to bring patient voices to the forefront. Rather than talking about patients, it let them speak for themselves, providing an authentic perspective and fostering empathy. Strategic partnerships with film festivals such as Giffoni and Venice extended the campaign’s reach and engaged diverse audiences, particularly young people.

The campaign included press events, social media competitions, masterclasses, and multi-city screenings. It reached over 1,200 students in 20 high schools, while more than 480 media articles generated more than 96 million contacts across TV, radio, and print. The initiative successfully challenged stereotypes and built meaningful engagement, giving epilepsy patients a voice while educating the wider community.
