In the B2C category, Lounge Group – Visual Europe Group won third place with the 45th FIDE Chess Olympiad and was additionally recognised as Best Sports Event. Marking the 100th anniversary of the International Chess Federation, the world’s largest chess event proved that strategy, scale and spectacle can coexist on a global stage.
The Olympiad brought together nearly 2,000 participants from more than 200 countries, transforming Budapest into a global chess hub. The event combined competition with special anniversary celebrations, side programs, and a spectator‑friendly environment designed to make chess more accessible and engaging for wider audiences. One of the most distinctive creative solutions was the use of paper‑based chess tables, scoreboards, signage, and even lockers, reinforcing sustainability while creating a unified visual identity.
The scale of the event required extensive coordination across multiple venues, secure live broadcasting, and complex logistics. Each board was individually wired for real‑time coverage, and a 15‑minute broadcast delay ensured fair play. More than 600 volunteers supported operations, while cultural programs, learning corners, and demonstrations enriched the visitor experience.

The Olympiad achieved record‑breaking reach, with over 1 million simultaneous online viewers and thousands of on‑site spectators, thanks to a rotating seating system. A strong multi‑channel communication campaign amplified global visibility through digital platforms, influencers, outdoor advertising, and cinema placements, establishing the 45th FIDE Chess Olympiad as the most‑watched edition in history.
